https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1800_United_States_presidential_election#Defective_certificate Defective certificate When the electoral ballots were opened and counted on February 11, 1801, it turned out that the certificate of election from Georgia was defective: while it was clear that the electors had cast their votes for Jefferson and Burr, the certificate did not take the constitutionally mandated form of a "List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each".[15] Vice President Jefferson, who was counting the votes in his role as President of the Senate, immediately counted the votes from Georgia as votes for Jefferson and Burr, and no objections were raised.[15] -----As one can see, Thomas Jefferson used his power as Vice-President and as the presiding officer to simply decide that the votes were valid. Gohmert was right----Pence has plenary power tomorrow.
As I have said several times in the past-----This may be a good time to brush up on a little thing called "a contingent election".
If objections had been raised than both The House and Senate would have had to vote to throw out The GA EC votes, which as the article stated was clear that Jefferson had won so no one objected.Jefferson did not decide,Congress did by not objecting moron.
Then after this, the election went to The House for a contingent election and was decided after more than 30 ballots. The reason Jefferson counted Georgia's votes real quickly was because had he not, then there would have been a 5 person contingent election in The House instead of a 2 person race between him and Burr. Jefferson had the power to do this as Vice President and counted the votes in his favor to give a favorable playing field in The House. ---Most folks don't know that Jefferson was elected by The House.
No idiot,he won because he got the required 70 EC votes. He also won the popular vote by over 20 points. Results Jefferson—and Burr—won by a landslide or a majority of the voters in each state that he had won in 1796, and additionally won majorities in New York and Maryland. Adams picked up votes in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, but these votes were not enough to offset the Democratic-Republican gains elsewhere. Of the 155 counties and independent cities making returns, Jefferson and Burr won in 115 (74.19%), whereas the Adams ticket carried 40 (25.81%). This was the last time that Vermont voted for the Federalists.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1800_United_States_presidential_election 1801 Presidential Contingent Election in The US In February 1801, the members of the House of Representatives balloted as states to determine whether Jefferson or Burr would become president. There were sixteen states, each with one vote; an absolute majority of nine was required for victory. On February 17, on the 36th ballot, Jefferson was elected. Federalist James A. Bayard of Delaware and his allies in Maryland and Vermont all cast blank ballots.[27] This resulted in the Maryland and Vermont votes changing from no selection to Jefferson, giving him the votes of 10 states and the presidency. Bayard, as the sole representative from Delaware, changed his vote from Burr to no selection.[4] The four representatives present from South Carolina, all Federalists, also changed their 3–1 selection of Burr to four abstentions.
So the VP has the power to pick every presidential election winner? Even your moronic mind has to know better than that
