There is no such thing as unbiased judge for the most part. Politics play a huge part although, they swore to uphold the law whether they agreed with it or not! That is what fair and impartial judges should be doing! In real life, you have extreme, liberal judges questioning every act of President Trump and being over ruled by the US Supreme Court! That shows their incompetence for the job! Any other job, if you cannot do it, you would be fired on the spot! If you do one thing this election cycle, vote against incumbent judges! Let us drain the swamp and put new judges in who will actually, do their jobs!
Well if we had your way... North Carolina would be installing the current crop of Republican candidates as judges who don't want to teach evolution in classrooms, require educators to teach the world is only 5000 years old & the earth is flat, and require minorities to drink from different foundations. Some of these candidates running on pure party affiliation and association are complete idiots with limited judicial knowledge. Judges at the local level courts and most state level courts show little bias. Very rarely would they have any involvement in cases for issues involving presidential policies. Those cases go to directly to federal court where the judges are appointed by Congress. So these election of local/state judges really have no impact or bearing on your "extreme, liberal judges questioning every act of President Trump and being over ruled by the US Supreme Court" issue.
No. There is no perfect way to seat judges. I do prefer to executive appoints and legislature advises and consents. It creates a check system that allows for all sides to have input rather than simple majority rules. The election of judges is at least partially responsible for the out of control prison population in this country. When the chief campaign issue is whether or not the incumbent has been “soft” usually leads to the same place.
as it has nothing to do with politicians selling out their base. gerrymandering in practice makes seats safe for the party. So it has the opposite effect of what you were suggesting.
