It is a long way away...but I expect the far right wing Christians, who think Jesus is coming and the end of days are nigh, aren't likely to support a Mormon. I continue to think a third party candidate like Palin is going to blow up the GOP. If you look at the problems in the GOP controlled house right now with the Windbaggers and their lack of cooperation with the mainstream GOP, I think it is premature to write them off...
+1 but it will not be Huntsman. It will be Romney. I have already seen MSM articles about him. He will be the man. The only question is who will his running mate be. He might pick Palin again. In Obama's weakened state, it might be enuf. On the other hand, he might pick a senator from the south/west to mitigate his yankee roots. We will have to see. Rand Paul is not out of the question here.
No way Palin will run. She'll keep making the big bucks and tease everyone about 2016. If she runs and loses she will spend the rest of her life working the Burger King drive thru. Nobody will pay her a cent to give a speech ever again. I think it's far more likely for a progressive democrat who will instead of challenging Obama in a primary may run on a 3rd party ticket.
Well many seem to think Rubio is a lock. Although I could see Christie getting the pick. He swore up and down he would not run for President but never said anything about VP. I actually think Rubio is the smart choice. It will help them get FL and the latino vote as well as appease the tea party.
If Obama is in bad enuf shape, Hillary might attempt a coup. She is the only one who can. The Dems know that a third party candidate will be death to the democrats, so it will have to be coup within the party. Problem is the same with Palin tho, it is a very high stakes gambit, but Hillary will not have another shot due to her age, so it might come from her.
It could be Christie, he has done a good job in Jersey, but he said he would not run. Rubio is the darkhorse. Will the pubs get behind Rubio? Actually now that I think about it Romney/Christie just may well carry the day for the pubs. It would unite the base and the moderate/paleo-liberal pubs. Obama will not get the Neo-libs back in time for the election, that just might be the ticket. I wonder if Intrade has a contract on this yet?
Palin has nothing to lose by running as a third party. Should she lose, her base will not abandon her, they will love her even more. She can blame Obama for another 4 years...her meal ticket. She doesn't give a shit about the GOP, she is in this for herself...and her followers will not compromise. Her celebrity status rises, because she will claim victory no matter what happens. Sorry Mav, but you don't yet see Palin for whose side she is really on. She is on her own side, all the way...and so are her staunch supporters.
I presume you say this because of the southern staunch ways. Put a Mormon in office or leave Obama there. What do you think they will do?
I think they will go third party...one of them, one of their klan. Many of these petulant types lack the common sense to make the necessary compromise, as they are as dogmatic, extremist and self righteous as the extremists of any other group who refuse to compromise their core beliefs.
