2012 Republicans: Who can defeat Obama/Who will you vote for?

  1. Dick Cheney has a better shot at getting the nomination. Thsi is just another of Trump's increasingly pathetic self-promotion attempts.

  2. How many of the new tea party congress has turned down the government health care and the government retirement. Unless and until they back up their talk they are the same as all the other politicians. Has any of them put up a bill to stop federally paid health care for the congress and senate ? It is a very liberal idea that a temporarily elected official should have a publicly paid health and retirement plan while we, the elected's bosses do not. Are any of them planning to do so ?
The tea baggers are full of it just a slightly different shade of brown from the democrats and republicans.
I don't know if I would support them if they turned down their health and retirement but I damn sure would respect them for it.

  3. I can't believe people seriously consider Palin as a viable candidate for anything other than a talk show or porn career as MaMa MILF. Republicans need to keep the wheels greased maintaining the status quo "old boys network".

She speaks to the heart of many ordinary, suffering Americans. They may not be thinking about her actual viability, but only how much they want her to be president.

  5. Maybe so, but anyone who wants a moron for president can't be much smarter.

I don't want to judge their intelligence. I do think their ire is misdirected. It has not been "socialists" gutting the middle class for 30 years.

  9. The republican party has had some good people, like Domenici and Hagel. Why don't they run guys like that. Can you imagine Palin talking numbers on social security with Domenici, she would be lost after hello.

  10. Christie definitely wants to be Prez, but knows 2012 is just a throwaway. 2016 will be the real deal, when the Pubs would have much better than even chances of winning. He'll run for Prez in 2016. That's a lock. A run as VP in 2012 might be just what he'd need for a 2016 Prez run, so yeah, I could see him lobbying heavily for a VP role in '12.
I think he'd get it too. It would give the Pubs NJ, right smack in the middle of blue NE territory, and make the '12 race much much tighter. Even without a win, they might hold on to or even build on their gains in the House and Senate with him on the ticket.
It just depends on how smart the kingmakers in the GOP are about their tactics and strategy in '12.
