Please, please read up on options first. Get a basic understanding of greeks, and how underlying price, time & vol affects option prices. I am kinda terrified you would put on a real trade soon. You may be an internet stranger, but I am still basically a nice guy and do not want something bad happening to you
I appreciate your concern, I guess I need to understand the mechanics of options before putting real capital up at risk. I have already been predicting FX/index/stock prices for nearly 3 years now so theres half the battle done.
You'll please excuse me if, with your handle of DARTH SIDIOUS, I don't quite buy the "nice guy" stuff.
+1 If you are good at predicting, you can make some real $ trading options. Many of us new to options came from trading the underlying so are directional traders. In a trending market we do very well. The experts here try to make money independent of the direction of the underlying, often time trading volatility instead. It will be a while before I can do that profitably. In any case, I think you know more than what some of the others gave you credits for. Good luck.
My intentions are fully directional, the only reason I am moving from futures to options is convexity of the payoff. No interest in writing options too much hidden risk for me.
I tend to agree. My actual experience: I collected small premiums writing but got called/put in volatile markets like 2015. Rolling/moving converting to spread...did not help much compared to buy and hold. Ended up I now prefer limited risk and unlimited gain and willing to give up lots of small losses. My longs were much better overall but I am not good at risk management and let some big gains got away. Some good guys here did help me out by pointing me to some risk management techniques and that helped a lot. I am still trying to figure things out.
Second time I called a great short anyone take a position ??? The 195 and 193 puts are both worth over 10x what I paid for them. I believe I can find a real edge in the option market.
I meant a large short move, I was also ahead of the huge selloff due to china uncertainty with real money late last year.
Okay, I didn't remember that one, I thought you meant based on your first option sim trade....cheers and good trading to you sir.
