http://www.macworld.co.uk/feature/apple/where-are-apple-products-made-how-much-does-iphone-cost-make-trump-foxconn-3633832/ According to research firm IHS, the iPhone 6s Plus (Apple's current flagship phone, at the time of writing) costs Apple $236 to manufacture (once manufacturing costs are added), whilst it retails at over three times the price at $749 for the 16GB model. What's even more interesting to note is the extra storage found in the 64GB model costs Apple around $17 extra to make, while it charges its customers an extra $100 for the extra storage space. In the UK the iPhone 6s Plus 64GB can be found for £599. On 4 April 2016, IHS also released the cost estimate for the iPhone SE, which comes in at about $160 with manufacturing costs added, whilst the retail price sits at $399 (£379 in the UK).
You replied to my message post about "bed arrangement" at a Canadian hospital. Not sure what that has to do with Trump considering my kids were born many years ago. Thus, I will assume your post was for someone else talking political.
You do realize that AAPL spends hundreds of millions to hire the best people in the world and put together the teams that design their products, don't you? There's far more to the cost of a product like an iPhone than the parts and assembly cost. In fact the vast majority of the value accrues to the design piece, not the manufacturing which is nearly a zero margin, completely commodotized business. It's ironic that we're getting this Atlas Shrugged moment of forcing a company to make something for what the government thinks they should and where the government thinks they should courtesy of a bunch of Ayn Rand accolytes!
On the other hand, anyone who buys a $150 laptop might be an "idiot" too; any laptop I've seen at that price is usually not good value either. You don't seem to understand that quality and function sometimes comes at a price.
