Why focus on Apple phones? Samsung phones are already in the $500 range. It was a real eye-opener about how much phones really cost when Verizon went off the subsidized "new every 2" plan. I'm a cheap SOB so they'll be prying my Samsung Galaxy S4 from my cold, dead fingers in 10 years. They're already too expensive for me so $200 more doesn't make any difference.
What a stupidity your statements show a lack of any knowledge of the basic economic ideas. If they move to they U.S. their phones will cost $200 more ==> the demand on iPhones fall ==> iPhones will be left out of the competition ==> they will have to close their new facilities in the U.S. and again the unemployment level will go up. Trump is republican, but he thinks like a communist.
Wrong ...apple will retool and will lower the price of their product. They have plenty of $$$. They will be forced to make some changes or be pushed aside to oblivion and someone will take their place.
Sorry to say this but it seems Mr. Trump today showed first signs of NOT being the Turnaround Business Manager in charge of the USA Inc. He signed 2 executive orders today what are opposite to the practical turnaround of the US business house. a) Signed order to rebuild the US military. Total waste of resources when instead cutting down of defense expenses should be taking place. Standing now, mere 2 Squadrons of USAF F-22s can wipe out major chunks of many airforces around the world. Near similar capabilities in Naval areas and other defense services also. b) Signed order to HALT immigration from 7 countries: Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Syria. That is fine but why did he leave out MOST terrorist nations like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia. Why did he leave out Turkey that supports ISIS in money and materials. This is only half a sincere move. Disappointing at the very least. It is becoming apparent that Mr. Trump is more interested in getting a good name for "bringing jobs home from overseas" without any concern for higher prices of these products made locally. Worst the impact of such a move on US economy and industries would be severe. Paying extra 20-30% for goods might become a reality, leaving less disposable income in the pockets of common households and depressing demands in other industries.
Wrong conclusions. The more good USA paying jobs the more people will buy. Companies can cut prices and still make plenty of profit. Min wage needs to be at least 15 hour. All would benefit. Some ill managed companies would go out of business. The well managed would thrive. More people will have disposible income and buy products..such as iphones..refig...rent better houses..buy homes...buy more cars...In short, you cannot put the screws down on the people and expect the nation to prosper. The people have been oppressed by corporate and political greed for way too many decades. Politicians paved the way for useless...destructive strategies by passing legislation to favor globalism (which is the scourge of the earth). So, they race to other countries open their factories..pay pennies to the local workers there..abuse them in working hours...ship products back to USA and other countries..and profits go into the coffers of the companies and the pockets of the CEO's. Companies who race back to America to avoid the 35% tariff will not, and cannot, pass the bulk of the increase of producing goods in America on to the consumer. If they do soon they will be put of business. The smart ones will adapt. Lower their huge CEO salaries..free up capital ..retool..and since general pop WILL HAVE better paying jobs there will be a larger demand for goods and services. America will become great again to the envy of the rest of the world. Most of you guys on here are probally too young to know the America I knew before that awful thing called globalism. You have no reference point. Hence you arrive at wrong conclusion. In other words, you have no chart to the left to look at. No historical context. All you know is globalism and are ignorant of its dreadful effects for the common man. When a country only consumes and no longer produces goods and services it's days are numbered as salaries will go by the wayside..college kids will flip hamburgers after 4 years of education. Society will become a welfare society dependent on the globalist gov and greedy politicians who will pull the populace along with a ring in their nose UNTIL the people say no more! This what happened in the election. I was sitting in Argentina in the fall of 2015 with some colleagues and I told them Trump was gonna win. They practically laughed me to scorn...called Trump names...etc. Then in the fall of 2016 I was back in Argentina watching the debates. This is when the Trump women scandal surfaced and he appologized for his behaviour..(as if no other man thinks or does what he did). Again, i was mocked while in Argentina. Then as the election drew near and most all the polls were predicting Trumps demise..i said do not pay attention to the polls they are not true. The media is biased and trying to sway the election (but they later screamed Russia was doing what they themselves were doing..how hypocritical can you get?) As it turned out Mr T won with a landslide. Just like I kept telling people. In the end, my colleagues, for the most part, voted Trump as they didn't want Hillary to win. Most are conservative in their thinking. I kept telling them Mr T isn't a true conservative but they went for him anyway. So I got the last laugh in! Mr T is on the right track. If he can get the RINO's to work with him he will pull America up again.
What is going on will make an excellent case study for international trade and finance and strategic management classes. Enjoy while it is all happening and all the while keeping guard on your own jobs.
