200,000 Americans killed each year by Prescription medicines/drugs

  1. I think the medicine drugs industry in USA is worth $140 Billion to $160 billion every year. If this information is true it have serious effect on USA economy and then the world economy.

Prescription drugs kill some 200,000 Americans every year. Will that number go up, now that most clinical trials are conducted overseas—on sick Russians, homeless Poles, and slum-dwelling Chinese—in places where regulation is virtually nonexistent, the F.D.A. doesn’t reach, and “mistakes” can end up in pauper’s graves? The authors investigate the globalization of the pharmaceutical industry, and the U.S. Government’s failure to rein in a lethal profit machine

  2. What % of those 200,000 people either abused their medication, mixed them with narcotics or took meds that weren't even theirs!

Beatrice, don't just provide blunt figures, dig deeper...if that's even possible for you :)

  3. I start threads and provide starting point for discussions which are important for world economy. Everybody is welcome to post their information and opinions (this the main purpose/concept of forums).

  4. So....what do YOU believe will the impact on financial mkts as a result of this?

  5. You might want to dig a bit deeper yourself, FP.

Prescription related deaths are not usually due to abuse. They tend to come from errors in administration, poor testing procedures, mis-diagnosis, and just pure greed on the part of SOME health care practitioners.

Additionally, you are VERY likely to DIE in a hospital by staff error or from some random virus or bacteria. The health care industry is so screwed up on every level (not just financially) that it must tumble under it's own weight. That's how things change. Unfortunately, some will suffer in the process, but change must occur because the system simply can't continue indefinitely as is.

  6. The death rate in the USA is 2.5 million per year from all causes, so 200k seems a bit high. Thats almost 10% of all deaths in the US.

  7. If each American spends/contributes $2500 per month or $30,000 per year to the economy, then death of 200,000 Americans will be loss of $6 Billion per year for USA economy due to Americans killed each year by Prescription medicines/drugs (if true).

  8. you'd be surprised how many people take products with acetaminophen too often while not being aware of the effects on the liver

  9. When law authoritries investigate they will find out that mental hospital doctors are responsible for majority of Prescription drugs related deaths worldwide. Mental hospital doctors are useless people and they survive on money earned for poor and weak people sufferings. The mental drugs/medcines affect the minds of weak people and they cannot fight back and they are destroyed further mentally.

Nobody is this world is mad. Everybody thinks different.

Mental doctors will starve to death if they do not suffer weak people because these useless mental doctors do not have any knowledge and talent to earn money.

Have you ever heard of mad animals being admitted to mental hospital. If people think a animal has gone mad and dangerous then the animal is shot dead/killed.

If somebody thinks a person is seriously mad or retarded then shoot/kill this mad person and relief him/her of their misery. Why imprison them in a hospital for many years?
