I don't agree with that statement at all.

I made a chart with the ATR for 60, 15 and 1 min timeframes in MES. I just took ATR as it gives an idea about the potential size of the moves. The potential size of the move defines the potential profit you can possibly make. Small ATR means small moves, so less profit while slippage and fees are identical for all the timeframes. So the cost as a percentage of the profit is always higher for small timeframes as the ATR is smaller. The only way to compensate that is to increase the frequency of the trades. So more small profits in a small timeframe to try to catch what less trades make in bigger timeframes.

To me a 1 min timeframe can never make the profits that a 15 min timeframe makes for the same lenght of period.

The chart shows the three ATR's for 60, 15 and 1 min. Watch the difference. Blue is 60 min, red is the 15 min and green is the 1 min.

I also did a simulation in excel to calculate the net profit depending on which timeframe you trade.

  3. Interesting research.

I actually didn't make that statement which you have attributed to me.

The person who did has expanded and clarified what they meant in follow up posts.

As for CIS,I was the only one to mention him.No one made any mention of the figures attributed to him.I observed an earlier post about a strategy he purportedly used and enquired about it.

Again, your second post is very interesting and youve put the effort into making your point and contributing something of value.

    Cheers,

This was the complete statement. So sorry for the confusion. I did not say it was your statement, but did not realize that it looked like yours.

    That's a good point.
Was mainly talking about "Market Structure"
Some strategy aren't profitable on smaller timeframes because of the increased costs.

Was right about the 48h. WTF ?
That would be crazy to fail because of this.

    Was a tough session.
Bias was long as per the 30min chart
But bearish on the 5min chart + we kept making lower low ...

Managed to make money but took a lot of heat
Been patient ... Didn't really take care of myself (MAE > MFE) ... Enjoyed the ride a tiny bit.

Raised the cushion to 157,600 vs 155,100 (+2,500)
Because the payout request is 10 to 15 (non business days) before the payout.

Like this I will have the 2,500 profit when requesting for the payout.
VS Requesting the payout and building it forward.
It's no Good. No good, says John Rambo.

Because if I ask for 2,500 and break even or worse for the deadline (Payout)
Then my margin will be less than 5,000 (~5,100 - 2,500)
Could be fatal to trade with half the margin.

Therefore ... in order to withdraw the first 2,500$
    I will have to make 9,000 (Test) + 7,600 (Cushion) + 2,500 (Withdrawal)

    19,100$ or X4 ! Done ~50% ...

Remember ... Fast poor vs Slow rich.
    It's a marathon. Not a sprint.

Hopefully ... One day will come
When I'll make ~50M per year à la Paul Rotter xD

    Damn ... Why didn't I say SML ?!

What's for sure ... IF YOU CAN GET CRUSHED. YOU WILL GET CRUSHED
Even a tiny probability of ruin does materialize over time.

My Job shouldn't be to plan on the comet,
But to Solve for disasters before they happen.
Chess Grandmasters think 15 to 20 moves ahead.

    FOCUS ON THE NEXT TRADE
Step by Step ... That's it.

Be patient. Take care of yourself and enjoy the ride.

    Depends on the trading style
But trading for one month without chart is a nice drill.
Heard traders in proprietary trading firms didn't use chart at first.
Because it teaches the trader to focus on the current market, the last price.

People think a chart is a blank canvas they have to customize with addons.
Nope ... A naked chart is 99.9% of the (historical) information.
Indicators are only there to "help" for interpretations.
It's just layers on top of raw historical data.

I am more of a right side of the chart trader,
Meaning 80% of my decision come from the DOM.

Thinking back about my session ...
The market was clearly weak (in hindsight)
The last price was making lower highs and lower lows.

The first long trade couldn't take off
Averaged down on my 2nd long trade (That's another tell)
Kept long bias, limit bought previous low and price went 10 pts lower ...
I mean it just made a lower high. Probabilities for a lower low were therefore great.
Then I averaged down again for the 2nd time (3rd trade).

Market is showing it hands +60% of the time,
But I didn't listen and kept buying.
    Whereas I should have shorted.

    That's it.

What happens around my session is none of my business.
I don't know where the NQ opened nor closed ...
Because it's not my (current) market.
