Now you used an ownership apostrophe or whatever it is called with "Frank's beans". You are horrible. GAME PENALTY!
You missed the irony. It is from a Letterman bit from the early 1990s. :-( Sorry, a lot of my humor references shit from the 80s and 90s! I am not privy to all the new paradigms! :-\
I still don't think you are grasping the concept of why an oxford comma needs to be used in some circumstances...even oxford apparently doesn't realize this or they would make it a rule and not an option.
Who frickin' ever says I like oatmeal, eggs and fruit salad ... unless they like them altogether? Anyway less is more. "I would have wrote a shorter letter ...."
That's the point. If we had a standardized oxford comma rule then it would be self explanatory. I like oatmeal, eggs, cars, boats, travelling, movies, naps, fruit salads and whip cream, skiing, tennis, and hiking on nice days. In this sentence it is clear that you like fruit salads and whip cream, and you like hiking on nice days. I like oatmeal, eggs, cars, boats, travelling, movies, naps, fruit salads and whip cream, skiing, tennis and hiking on nice days. In the this sentence it appears you like fruit salads and whip cream, tennis AND hiking on nice days. That's a lot of activity for one day lol.
It's not pointless as I have shown that moving the placement of the comma can actually change the meaning of the sentence. Oxford should amend the rule as such. I won't even take credit for it...they can still call it the oxford comma rule.
