For what it is worth, I growed up learning the 2-spaces-after-a-period method of writing. So let's test something...

I'll post and then edit the above to see if it sticks. (Maybe it is just on the initial post.)

    Nope, it doesn't stick.

Ahh well, at least an A for effort on the OG typewriter crew?

P.S. The Oxford comma' can bite me. :)

  4. You need the Oxford comma because without it, it looks like you like eggs and fruit salad together.
    • I like oatmeal, eggs, and fruit salad for breakfast.
    • I like oatmeal, eggs and fruit salad for breakfast.
    :)

    No it doesn't you dweeb.

Oxford ---> I like oatmeal, eggs, and fruit salad for breakfast. That says I like oatmeal AND eggs AND AND fruit salad for breakfast.

Non-Oxford ---> I like oatmeal, eggs and fruit salad for breakfast. That says I like oatmeal AND eggs AND fruit salad for breakfast.

Which makes more sense in your head? Sound it out!

Maybe that is the issue. When I was taught how to read, I learned to sound out the tautology and cadence in my head, and to correct where necessary.

  6. You have it totally wrong. Without the Oxford, you are grouping eggs and fruit salad as if you'd like to eat them together at the same time. If you replace eggs with cars, it would make no sense.

    Huh?

    Good grief.

Oxford ---> I like oatmeal, cars, and a fruit salad for breakfast. I like oatmeal AND cars AND AND a fruit salad for breakfast.

Non-Oxford ---> I like oatmeal, cars and a fruit salad for breakfast. I like oatmeal AND cars AND a fruit salad for breakfast.

    It's the same thing!

  8. Whoever taught you that a, equals and? A comma separates the sentence fragments. It is a punctuation, not a word.

But the "and" is an operand (that is not the true term, it is more like a pejorative or conjunctive, something like that), and at the end of the list, the AND suffices for a comma, because there is no continuation of a list!

You need more funny in your life. Anyways, the Oxford comma is BS, we'll deal with the single-space separation of sentence breaks, and that's it. Baron ain't changing it.

    Dry oatmeal! FUCK!

  10. I like franks, and beans.
This is like saying I like franks and I like beans.
    I like franks and beans.
This is like saying I like franks and beans at the same time.

I don't know if that's how it's done with the Oxford rules or not but that's how it should work.
