Early morning trades on the MYM. (1) A short up against resistance, good for 10 ticks. (2) A short in a resistance area, but a loss of 16 ticks. The market is really tricky here. I should have waited until we reached the downtrend line. The CDelta line was telling me short as well. The price did pull back to 24,102 after I pasted this pic, but we have to honor our stops. In this case, I did not wait for mine to get hit. "Get out immediately" is the way I need to play this game. When I see that the market is going against me, I just get flat. "GET OUT" screams through my brain. When I listen I am sad because of my loss, but when I don't listen, the resultant losses are often disastrous. (If I don't place a stop or foolishly move it.) A loss is just part of the game. We can't get married to a position. We don't need to be "right," we need to make money. The very best baseball players strike out 60% of the time. We pick ourselves up and try again. Trading is, in large measure, a psychological endeavor.
Trades 3, 4, 5 (3) 6 ticks short just before the open. Everyone seemed to be looking for more longs. The contrarian in me loves this scenario. (4) 27 ticks short right at the open, at resistance. The market went "too far too fast." And while the overall market appeared to be "net short," right here, right now, (and begging for a relief rally) I took a stab at the downside. (5) 20 ticks short after a fast pop into resistance. Here is the trade blotter for the first 5 trades. All shown in this post and the last. (most recent first)
As promised, I am trying to post more trades and my rationale. This is a trading journal, after all, LOL. @Evgeniy I don't have that stat, but I am working with Multicharts support to help me.
Here is a template for rationales: What's the problem ? What's the assumptions ? What's the evidence, reasons ? What's the viewpoints, perspectives ? What's the implications, consequences ? What's the feedbacks, learning points, take aways ?
The line of scrimmage is intense here today. WOW. Trade (6) was a 12 tick short toward the mid-line of the range, as mentioned in the thread I started on MQL5 and posted the link for here recently.
Trade (7) Long MYM on a pullback from a pop from the bottom. Good for 22 ticks. The environment is slightly changing from extreme bearishness to something else. But the bulls have yet to emerge. The CDelta was saying "try a long" as well. Here is the trade blotter for the last two trades Like many today, I am thinking we will get a big oversold bounce. It just hasn't materialized yet. COVID-19 infections in the USA topped 1050 this morning and deaths are at 29. People have reason to be concerned.... I see no case for a bull run unless we break above 8160 NQ (at the VWAP).
Trade (8) short for 8 ticks on a bounce in a very strong bearish environment. I waited for the stall first. As you can see, I was a bit premature on the entry. The CD line was below price, and we were still in Zone4 on the VWAP bands. Zone 4 is only for shorts in my book. It is the breakdown mode expansion zone. Notice how the -1SD (-1 standard deviation) line HELD the pop and reversed it... Notice how well it held the other pops too...
I took 4 small shorts near resistance. THIS MARKET IS CRAZY. Here is the trade blotter for the last 5 trades: Average is about 10 ticks.
