N.B the video is wrong. I don't believe US workers earned more than Swiss did. Swiss standard of living was always high. Generally speaking people believe that freedom, democracy, and the greatness of founding fathers elevated US to the current position in record time. All the gory details are conveniently left out because they are not very poetic.
