"you sort of people"? :D Gimmie a break. Isn't it possible to do both? :D But I do focus on one thing at a time. :D I do use Macs but don't own one.
Market sure is selling off this AM. Off the highs that is. Guess the N. Korea missle test and captured soldiers is the big influence. Good luck trading today guys. :)

I am also interested in graphic work as well, and so whatever I buy, even for trading, I would choose the better monitors, with DVI . I think you should stick to brand names like Dell, BenQ, NEC, Viewsonic, Sony etc. and you should be fine. Envision and AOC are excellent no name brand monitors.

I may just buy 2 less expensive 19" LCD's for trading for now and get a higher end larger display later. Right now I use 2 - 19" LG Electronics CRT's with a Dell/Sony Trinitron 21" CRT in the middle. They work great but I'd like a setup I can take traveling when I wish. I'm also looking at this laptop which configured the way I'd want it runs just over $2k. :) http://laptopmag.com/Review/HP-Pavilion-dv8000t.htm
Saw it in Laptop Mag at Barnes & Noble last night. Looks pretty nice.
BTW, taking donations for "the cause". Which cause you might ask........................
    Cause I'm broke. :D

    BCE,

I am currently looking to design my own computer, which must be fast and portable. I am thinking of designing my own case. I have looked at things such as ShuttleX, Antec Aria, Small Form Factors, etc, and decided to make my own case using wood :) .

I want it to be small enough to just enclose a regular ATX motherboard. The DVD burner will be external. Right now I am waiting for the release of Intel Conroe, which smokes AMD FX-62 easily. Conroe also have the potential to overclock. My mainboard should have 3 PCIe slots, as I am aiming to run 6 monitors.

When I am on the road, I would take maybe just one 20 inch monitor 1600x1200 with me.

Total cost for the PC and the 20 inch monitor should be less than $1000.

Was thinking about building my own too. Desktop that is. But have been busy with other endeavors and lost touch with the latest chip technology. Haven't been to Tom's Hardware that much lately except to check out a device to run 3 external monitors off a laptop. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71254
Thanks for the info on the Conroe which is what I was wondeing about last night. :) I like the wood idea. :D Appropriate tech. What kind of wood would you use? :)
BTW, here's an article on Conroe vs FX-62 Maybe you've seen this. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/06/05/first_benchmarks_conroe_vs_fx-62/
And this about a "A 4.1 GHz Dual Core at $130 - Can it be True?" which is selling today at newegg for $110. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/10/dual_41_ghz_cores/
Sorry to be a bit off the monitor topic guys. End of the day. :) :)

Haven't decided on this. I shall visit Home Depot and a few woodworking shops .

Yes I have read that article on Conroe. Pretty interesting stuff. Been wondering if Intel call this Pentium 5 or not. :)
