18.3% of personal income is from food stamps

  1. And let's not forget... Odumbo still wants to "spread the wealth around".. this is, if you have any wealth left, it will be taken and distributed to the have not/work little crowd... all for political favor, of course.

  2. Your title is very misleading as can be seen when you read the story:

"A record 18.3% of the nation's total personal income was a payment from the government for Social Security, Medicare, food stamps, unemployment benefits and other programs in 2010. Wages accounted for the lowest share of income — 51.0% — since the government began keeping track in 1929."

Given the defense budget and supplementals is over 1 Trillion, makes it pretty clear we're doomed. Either close down the military, or cut off the welfare cases. Take your pick.

  4. Sorry about that. I read another article on inflation that said 18.3% of the nations personal income was made up of foodstamps and didnt catch the difference in this article. Here is the original article I read that says its 18.3% and just food stamps, not total government benefits.

  5. We need to do both. Least painful would be to slash military... though those whose oxen were gored in the process would protest...

No argument there. Military spending is out of control. Cut that by 2/3rds, and cut entitlements by half to 1/3rd. Then, run the surplus into unemployment benefits (max 1.5K, per head, per month). Then let the chips fall where they may. In my mind, that's the best way to save the dollar without Americans homeless and starving. Just a pipedream tho, ol' buddy :p

This Country has be ruined by the democrat liberal's. They have been on a nanny state campaign for about 60 years in which to take the public's money (taxes) and give it out as handout's in order to get votes. It has been a brilliant plan that has sucked sooo many worthless people onto the nipple of the gubernment that it may not be reversible. There would NOT be a democratic party without two things: 1.) guberment handouts and 2.) unions (goonions).

It is the exact reason Europe and the EU are doomed and will collapse. Nanny state's and liberal-socialist who have piled on massive debts in order to achieve their goals. It amazes me to see at least some austerity measures going on over there, privatization of health care (Greece) and other "pro-capitalist" measures, but here we are driving ourselves with odumbo and the socialists off a cliff.

Amazing. My Dad is rolling over in his grave...same with our Founding Father's and Reagan.

We had a budget surplus under democrat Clinton.

Republican Bush ballooned government spending at all levels.

Your generalizations are 50 years out of date.

  9. I don't buy the dem vs republican blame game. A politician is a politician is a politician. The position our country is in right now is cumulative of a hole our country has dug itself over many years.
