There has been no pause in the earth's warming at all. It is simply wrong to say there is.

The heating of the earth continues unabated.

It is a fact that the earth is continuing to gain heat. There is ZERO doubt about it.

 

I wonder why they qualified their definition with the "no formal education or training in science" bit.

 

Lets be realistic, having a degree in liberal arts, or environmental sciences is the same as having no degree at all, infact the person with no degree is probably further ahead, because they arent 200k in the hole.

The term burning the midnight oil simply meant getting stoned before you went to bed for most liberal arts majors.

 

So climate assertions from scientists with degrees in the harder sciences are still to be respected?

 

Yes, So long as they are making assertions that conform to my own personal beliefs.
