    A spectacularly naive and wrong conclusion - Obama reaffirmed his involvement for a very specific reason; namely, the US needs a collection area to attract militant terrorists.

  2. Bone is right. The US should maintain a limited low cost presence in Afganistan that attracts jihadists to the holy war in the homeland.

    This will lower the possibility of domestic terrorism.

    Unfortunately, it also means that US and allied troops are basically targets and the war will never really end.

    it won't happen. they know that obama is doing everything in his power to weaken the US. the taliban is familiar with obama's philosophy that the US is not an exceptional nation.

    And Americans wonder why the world generally hates them and views them as warmongers.

    Sure, 'carpet bomb' the province and no doubt kill a few bandits as well as 1,000s of innocents, many of them perhaps even sympathetic to the role that America is playing in the region.

    By all means go after the enemy (if you know who he actually is) but try to have some compassion for the innocents.
