14th Amendment Time -- It's long overdue to keep insurrectionists off the ballot

We can't in one hand claim the constitution is an ever evolving document (2nd, 14th, 19th, etc...) and not realize that there's imperfect provisions in it. When that section was penned, conviction could've been implied despite the clear reading of the text. The absolute bullshit was the 2nd opinion by the conservative majority, that insurrection can only be ruled on by congress (see my post 207)....that was a clear political decision.

On 1, Trump did hold Ukraine hostage over defensive aid....but no I very much doubt it comes to that.

on 2, there's certainly stochastic terrorism and we've got congress people on record saying they voted w/Trump over fear for their/family's safety but I don't disagree w/the lib siding unanimously due to supremacy clause. The 2nd majority decision was straight up bull though.

With History as a guide, we have to take this shit seriously. Trump is saying plain as day what he wants to do, and if he gets enough buy-in he'll do it. Any good reason we shouldn't take preventative action?

  6. Project 2025, I had to Google it. This is what has you upset? Com'on man, I know you're not that gullible. Really, I'm serious, that's loon stuff and while we may disagree on some things,I don't put you in that category. You can vote for Biden and I have no issue with you or anyone being free to make that choice, but because you're fearful of Trump being a dictator and Project 2025? Dude, relax.

Cap'n, it sounds to me like you're in the "can't happen here" camp.

Edit: "upset" is a strong word. Wary is the correct one in my case.

  10. We can settle on your concern is greater than mine. IMO there are worse things than a Trump presidency in our future if we don't get our collective heads out of our asses on a myriad of subjects.
Not to worry, the establishment is not going to let Trump go much further. They'll take him out one way or another. That'll have consequences too, but they'll manage them with a bit of the authoritarian boot and at the end of the day the scary white people got jobs to show up at and bills to pay. They won't stay out in the street very long.
I keep telling you progressives, be patient, you're winning. You'll have your way soon enough. Falls into the be careful what you wish for, but it is obvious the social norms are still leaning left to hard left. Trump was not/is not a reversal of that trend, just a pullback.
