120-pt Spike in EUR/USD

Discussion in 'Forex' started by Exchanges, Mar 16, 2006.

  1. Hey guys,

EUR/USD consolidated for a few hours then at 8:30AM EST, a 120-pt move seemingly came out of thin air. What's up with that?

I was handed 111-pips this morning free on my EUR/USD long trade when I logged into my forex account.

    Anyone else cash in?

  4. Good one! :D

Exchanges, look into a little obscure economic release called the CPI, and core CPI. Just happened to come out at 8:30 am EST this morning, among a few other numbers.

Also, you may want to search ET for the words "economic calendar" (select "Search titles only" button) and pick a calendar to review daily.

  5. It's a technical move, then?

  6. do you use a stop ever ? imagine if you were short
EUR going into an economic number that you had no idea was coming ... you would have woken up
    to a crushing loser

You think anything else had to do with it?
