    Slavery is more prevalent now than in any time in history. ---But not in The US.---The US was never majority slave owners and we got rid of the Democrat party practice of slavery. By they way, just as an aside, piracy on the open seas is more prevalent now than at any time in history.

    The US was never majority slave owners and we got rid of the white conservatives in the confederate states practice of slavery.White conservatives in the confederate states today still consider those people heroes deserving of monuments though.

    some free black people in this country bought and sold other black people, and did so at least since 1654, continuing to do so right through the Civil War.

    Not really.Racist conservatives mostly from the confederate south love it and fought a war against The US to keep it. Racist conservatives mostly from the confederate south still see them as heroes deserving of monuments today.
