1000 shares of IBM from 1947

  1. IBM's IR Dept. or its agent needs to be contacted by you or a lawyer. They handle this all the time. They'll provide info on everything needed to reregister the correct number of shares on the books in your name.

    Lose the broker idea.

    And yes, they know exactly when shares split, etc..

    What a great bequest.

    Guys I have only one thing to say if you don't believe me.

    EARLY APRIL FOOLS!

    Yes there is no 1000 shares of IBM from 1947 geez you guys are right if there were I would be worth about 150 million dollars in market value today! Didnt mind having some fun with my good friends at ET as I wont be around come April 1st.

    3000 share of MSFT from 1990... That was the standard option package for new developer recruits right out of college as reported by the Seattle Times. I think the split factor is 72x

    That would be 216000 shares at 25 or so for a cool 5.4 mil. After taxes at 40% would be a clean 3.24 mil....

    Funny and some folks turned down offers.... I know of one guy who was a much heavier hitter and his wife did not want to move from CA to WA. That was 1988. He would have been in the 10k range of options and additional splits for the earlier years.

    I don't think those opportunities will be comming around again anytime soon...

    And to think, i was gona sell 1000 IBM calls as soon as i found out when u where gona cash in.........a little front running if you dont mind...LOL
