100 year bonds - would any of you buy them

  1. Well, the Mexican 100yr bonds went sold like hot cakes, so why not century gilts?
  2. Yeah, but those are callable in kilos.
  3. Your locked in to a really crappy return for a hundred years and I personally think that the UK will either inflate to nothing or default. I can't understand why anyone would think any different.
  4. You mean it is backed by gold?
  5. Your opinion is duly noted. However, there's clearly quite a few people out there who love these things (if I had to guess, they're in it for the convexity).
I'd prefer gallons (preferably of Patron). If that makes me a pussy, so be it.
  6. Are the bonds backe by anything?

What does the UK have to provide growth other than the financial sector?

Anyway I won't touch them with a barge pole.
  7. Well, I dunno quite what to say... Excuse me while I go slit my wrists.

Talk amongst yourselves, I may be some time.
  8. 100 year bond is a toxic security, but only on a longer time frame.
  9. No need to over react. You can go back to your mother land so what does it matter for you anyway.
