100 year bonds - would any of you buy them

  2. Well, the Mexican 100yr bonds went sold like hot cakes, so why not century gilts?

    Your locked in to a really crappy return for a hundred years and I personally think that the UK will either inflate to nothing or default. I can't understand why anyone would think any different.

  6. Your opinion is duly noted. However, there's clearly quite a few people out there who love these things (if I had to guess, they're in it for the convexity).
    I'd prefer gallons (preferably of Patron). If that makes me a pussy, so be it.

    Are the bonds backe by anything?

    What does the UK have to provide growth other than the financial sector?

    Anyway I won't touch them with a barge pole.

  9. 100 year bond is a toxic security, but only on a longer time frame.

    No need to over react. You can go back to your mother land so what does it matter for you anyway.
