I would have found it laughable a few years back but now I'm not sure whether they are a better bet than US treasuries.

 

If I recall, IBM floated some 100 year paper some years back.

 

There was also a 100y GM issue and a very recent RaboBank one, I think.

 

Hmm. Maybe we should write 500 year bonds. By the time we have to pay it back, the country may not be there.

 

Japan you can get 100 year mortgage loans.
