Don't you want the same when you own a company Let me put it this way - foreign workers are more dependable in H1B jobs. They work hard and do over-time to meet the project deadline. What's wrong in this?
America is run by corporations thru their lobbies In the era of 22mm unemployed citizens, no government should allow foreigners to come and take our jobs. It is the corporations who want this cheap labor system keep running at the expense of real American citizens. And Obama is doing nothing to prevent this. There are WAT, OPT, greencard and all sorts of other employment channels for foreigners who have no ties or links to America yet they are stealing the very important essence of our blood line. And when the American citizens become unemployed the US Govt assists them with printed money or the money they borrowed from China. The whole system has no logic at all. The collapse of the US Dollar and America is not too far.
What's wrong with it? You're destroying the American Middle class - the reason the US became a great country and envy of the world.
I was not questioning motive. Greed often trumps gratitude for one's homeland. Such HR staff should be exported to a gulag in Russia, there to learn a new appreciation for the freedom they used to enjoy, at the expense of Americans more grateful, sacrificial and patriotic than they. A firm owned by domestic or foreign people, with employment center(s) located in America, putting Americans out of work, especially with respect to living-wage jobs such as IT, or choosing non-Americans when offering recruiting, solicitation, importation, education and opportunity, is what is wrong with that. I have not seen Microsoft publish ads in "USA Today" warning Americans that they need to fill these qualified positions, here is how to get those qualifications, this is when you will need them by, and here is where you can work if you follow these steps. I have not seen Sun Microsystems pay for full-page ads inviting techs to earn new certifications and allow the company to pay their way to move next to the firm, and work there as much as they want, until they retire. I have seen such in papers from India, Pakistan and Iraq. Look it up. If waving my nation's flag while making a profit is untasteful for some, I really couldn't give half a rat fart. After all willing American adults are gainfully employed in living-wage jobs, THEN talk about the Statue of Liberty. AMERICA FIRST. I have written elsewhere on this.
I agree 100% to your thoughts and understand your pain. But here is my extra 2 cents Corporate America also have an option to send all these H1B jobs offshore completely and that is even uglier situation. You don't want that - do you? Sadly you have only two choices left "Bad" and "Worse" (I explained somewhere on top of the thread). Happy trading.
The problem is that the H1-B Visa holders have no job mobility. They can not leave the corporation that sponsored them and move to a company down the street that treats them better. H1-B Visa holders are virtual economic slaves to the sponsoring corporation. Now there is a cure for all of this. Allow all H1-B visa holders to switch jobs and state that companies can't hold them financial responsible for "relocation" or other expenses. This would force the large companies to pay H1-B visa holders properly in terms of the U.S. labor market and provide decent working environments. Otherwise the visa holder would simply go down the road and work for a different company. This after all seems like a "free market" and "competitive" solution to the H1-B visa complaints.
Nice to see someone posts some knowledge about how it actually works. This is the antithesis of free markets. I've refrained from commenting thus far, but let's be frank: it's about lowering costs everywhere but the top .01% - has nothing to do with scarcity of supply.
No you find another way. That's just being a dumbshit about it. "Oh, if I don't do it, they'll just replace me with someone who will." That's just a cop-out excuse not to do any level of thinking at all. That's what you sound like.
