I just want to share some tips I've found helpful. I've had a couple of ups and downs with my financial management for the past few years but has been doing good now and wanted to share some things based on experience. So here's a list of a few things to live by: 1. Live within your means 2. Try to use credit for cars, homes and student loans only 3. Set up automatic bill payment, or payment reminders 4. If you use a credit card, treat it like a debit card and pay off the entire balance every month 5. Only apply for new credit when you must 6. Forget about the Joneses... buy what you NEED, not what you WANT (until you have extra cash to spend) 7. Enroll in your company's 401k and maximize any available matching contributions 8. Build and maintain the cash equivalent of 6 months living expenses as a rainy day fund 9. Pay down loans as quickly as possible 10. Think before you spend: consider what else you could buy with the money you are about to spend, prior to making the purchase Anyone have other good practices to add?
