Up the contracts Not the points Was some of the best advice the old man down south ever gave me One can make a killing with only 5 ES points a week. 10% return without leverage. With leverage the sky is the limit
Define reasonable risk control? The higher the return, the higher the risk Zanger ran 11k to 18 million
@punisher supposedly.... how would you trade it , pls? ....taking only best setups. There is your 10% return.... the best setup per your trading experiences can be exemplified in graphics terms as.... the question indirectly asking to take a peek at your trading screen sim or otherwise, per your delineation of TAKING ONLY BEST SETUPS, PER YOUR TRADING EXPERIENCES, TRADING SCREEN, or others.... thx
I had no need to, for the purposes of my response to the OP, who used the expression in his question: admittedly, I do have my own definition of it (and a slightly looser one imposed on me by someone else, too), but for the purposes of this thread, and offering my opinion on the answer to the OP's question, I'll go along with whatever he meant by it, because whatever "reasonable" meaning he intended for it isn't realistically going to change my response to him. Making a steady 40% per month, or anything like it, from a small account (however he defines "small"), with reasonable risk management (however he defines "reasonable risk management") is dreamworld stuff, and that's my story and I'm sticking to it. You guys can argue with it all you like, but I'm unsubscribing from the thread, now.
@Scdataphaqos pray tell.... to enlighten many of us in the woods, *I formerly participated in the national real-money investing tournaments... US Investing Championships, MMVR.... when did it take place, so we could accolade you superlatively.... master? just seeking clarification with no malice, Scataphagos. Thx
Was back in the '90s. The US Investing Championships and MMVR were real-money audited, year-long contests. Results of leaders published in Barrons and IBD. USIC had various categories and bracket investment amounts... from $5K to $500K. MMVR had only one investment bracket... $1,000,000, minimum.
If I were a great example to follow I wouldn't be hanging out much around here. I gave an example: in ES go for 10-12pt a MONTH (not even a week!) on 2 lots per $10k in your account and there's your 10% a month. The problem with "taking only best setups" is that no one wants to wait for "best" setups, most (including me) overtrade looking for as many setups as you can find. Is it possible to make 10% a month actively trading? IMO yes Is it possible to make 20%? I think so. Not easy but doable. Is it possible to make 10-20% in the first few years as a self directed trader (w/o mentor). No! Does OP have 10k or 100k starting capital? How the hell do I know... besides, it doesn't matter for the answer to his question, does it? Is OP a "retail" trader? And who the fuc% are 99% traders around here? Does $250k makes you by itself "institutional" trader or what? Will OP be ever able to make any money in the markets? Who knows that, but again, he asked the question about the realistic potential, not what he "will" make. Once you learn how to trade, if there is no way to realistically make 10% a month "actively" trading then please state clearly what do you thing is realistic monthly return for active trading and why aren't you pursuing a different venture?
@Scataphagos which name did you use to enter the competition? you really do not need to reveal your true self, K? irs might be trying to locate your money since ....? LOL thx
