  4. The guy who replaced Brian Sack presses a buy or sell button at 10:30 depending on his mood for the day. This order is immediately transmitted by fiber to all the primary dealer automated trading computers, which instantaneously execute at the same time.:)

  8. Are you trading this setup?
    How often does it go wrong, and how far do you let losses accumulate before deciding that it went wrong?

    is it more likely to happen in some instruments than in others?

  9. Nope. I don't trade this phenomena, only pointing it out.
    It can go wrong a lot.

    However, I did read some study that said 30% of the time the high or low of the day occurred within the first 38 minutes of the day. Then, something like 45% of highs or lows of the day is contained if expand to first ~ 75 minutes of the day (includes 10:30).

    This is the basis for opening range breakout strategies like ACD method, or Tony Crabel's ORB methods.
