One a one minute chart, and any other as well, price is the most reliable indicator. I think that with a one minute chart being such a short term "noisey" timeframe, that most indicators are pretty much worthless there and are likely to just lead to confussion and losses. One minute charts are best used for sharp entries on trades in bigger timeframes IMHO.

I personally always trade with 1 - 1.5 pt stops and target 3-5 pts profit...

It is working very well for me... in fact, I usually do 80% profitable trades....

You've already had your advertising removed once from this site. How many more times before it sinks in that you're advertising won't be tolerated?

  6. dang, 4 to 1 r to r and an 80% hit rate! I've never heard of anyone being that consistently good! I wouldn't even think it's possible, but if you say so. I think it's time to rewrite some math books or something. This is down right earth shattering.

Now my 20 points a day doesn't sound so impressive.

  8. well, too bad this thread got so off track. At any rate, I like to trade the small moves. It is a whole nuther world down here.
The math is the same as far as risk reward, but hit rates can go way way up, but commissions become a big percentage of a small move.

There is all kinds of stuff to think about, but at this time, I know of no indicators of the traditional variety that can give a signal quick enough.

That's why on that poll that asked, fundamental, technical or other, I clicked other.

But 4 the record, I use 4 min chrts, if you want to call just looking at them using them. The whole day fits nicely on a 4 min chart. Takes a while to get use to though after the 1 min. You start asking, "How the heck long is it gonna take for a 4 minute chart to make a new candle!?"

  9. On average, about 4 minutes :D

Seriously, I use a 5 on stocks and sometimes I find myself saying "c'mon hurry up and print already. The market's moving."

  10. They

    They

doing some marketing research here for a PATS - TWS plug in

for those of you who trade more than a 1 lot on the minis would you be willing to pay $500 for a plug-in to Pats' or IB's API that would; (hold on to your nuts boys and tighten up your girdles ladies)

    lets say you are trying to pick a bottom and you are chasing the lowering highs of 1 minute bars down - you could set the software to;

buy on a stop 1 tick above the ask - after being hit the software would place a sell stop 2 points below and a sell limit 2 points above (you could set that to any size stop or target - it would be entered as ticks from the bid or ask)

once the first buy stop was hit the software would instantly place another buy stop 1 tick above the current ask if that second order was hit the software would place a third order to buy on a stop 1 tick above the ask while adjusting the pending 2 point stop/limit orders to a 2 lot - whenever the stop loss or target was hit the software would cancel the other order like an OCO order

you could have this go on and on to a maximum preset size is realized (10,20,30 lots whatever your normal size is) you could have it buying 2, 3, 4, etc... lots each time after each filled order

you cloud set a preset dollar amount as a target as well

it would give you a realtime p/l on the total position in case you wussed out and just wanted to hit the panic button that would exit all positions at market and cancel stops and limits

if price hit your target and you were not filled within 5 seconds from that time it would get you out at market

these would be the basic features

obviously this could be used for both breakout/breakdown and reversal type setups

NOTE: I do not condone Bottom Picking especially in public
