Yeah, that is kind of what i had thought as well Rufus...i don't know too much about it though.

Would the 100+ RTs be on a single security as well? For the market making algo's i could definitely see that...but i know less about the stat arb's and what sort of relationships they are trading based on.

  2. Geez, you know a number of people who make outstanding triple-digit returns consistently and now this? Who are these people? Vulcans?

  3. Perhaps it's the frequency of data matters, rather than of RT.

  4. Well, one particular person that really blew my mind was trading Eurodollars (all months), and all the back-month options. I was talking to his boss one day right after unemployment in his general area. He was incredible (he had about 50 product windows open), and did at least 20 trades in under a minute. I was floored, I had trouble keep track of his mouse movement across all 4 screens, let alone decision making. I think he was up about $50k in those 1-2 minutes. I still shake my head in disbelief everytime I think about it.

Edited: Since I have been around finance for a long time, I tend to remember the people that just blew me away (with their returns, their speed, something). I only know about half dozen automated systems generating three-digit returns, probably out of hundreds (thousands?) that I have known / talked to. Likewise, I consider myself a pretty fast typist, and I was blew away by a couple of good / great young traders that have dexterity and agility that is just incredible, but only a couple.

  8. No, my 'real job' is taking a shitload of time, and I decided to implement realtime model optimization rather than just doing it once a day.. might as well do it right.

  10. Wouldn't 1% a day be worth taking some "sick" time for?
