1% a day and MM

Discussion in 'Journals' started by tango29, Nov 10, 2003.

  1. In this kinda market. Why does some one want to do hard work to TRY to earning 1% a day most likely inconsistently. Not discouraging you, IMO, it's dreaming. I am sorry. But it is dreaming.

So what do you do? Just do something easy and simple, buy and hold. Although t won't give you something better than 1% a day in a year, but definitely could end up with a more realistic 100% growth with much LESS work.

    :p

  2. ...I am curious as to why you think 1% a day is a dream? I made $165.20 today per contract putting up only $1125 per contract. Now admittedly that was such a relatively unusual result for me (nearly 3X my average net) that I had to change my pants afterwards. People like the Phoenix won't stoop to a trade that yields anything less than 5 ES points per contract.

Do you day trade futures? Aggressively trading a small account it is not unreasonable to make 200-300% per year. Just don't imagine that you can scale that up. It would be enough to get white trash like Ignorant out of the trailer park and into a tract rent house with plastic flamingos on the lawn, and he'd be drinkin' Andre' pink champagne while diddlin' his mail order bride and lisnin' to George Thoroughgood on the upscale boombox.

hell is the problem? I'm just putting up a simple journal, if you don't want to see if I can do this then don't waste your time checking it out. Hypo, I don't mind your questions I am just amazed at all the people that waste their time ripping on everything, but I guess it is normal. The 1% and money mgmnt to increase contracts is an experiment. I will keep trading as I have been for quite awhile in a different account after I (hopefully) hit this 1%. I have been making a living trading before this, but for the sake of some variety wanted to try this and see how far I can build up. I haven't increased contracts in my trading in awhile, and I think its mostly a comfort thing, so I devised this stupid plan to help get over this hurdle. Nothing more nothing less.
Hypo, I am also interested in your trading, and whether it is 100 % mechanical? If so, have you devised these systems yourself or purchased them?
Not to tick anyone off who was saying something nice, but I don't know that this is brave , courageous or anything other than a relatively simple experiment.
Also, I say again if this is the wrong place for this, someone tell the moderator and toss me out. I'll do this whether I can post or not, just thought this was more fun.
See ya in the morning, hopefully with 1 winner again! :)

  4. I don't think it is a dream, otherwise I would just give up. Do you trade the ES or just what? You might have said before, but if so i forgot.

  5. ...as I said earlier in all seriousness, people here are hungry for something fresh and different. Your initial post was so straightforward, so egoless, and so sincere (in short, so un-ET-like) that I was encouraged that something interesting might result. IMO that is why you have gotten the praise you have gotten. ET is a vicious place. You're getting it easy now. Just wait and see.

I apologize for assuming that you were not a highly experienced trader, and not recognizing that this is simply an experiment for you. You are undoubtedly much more experienced than I am if you make a living at it. I intended no offense.

My trading is almost 100% mechanical. I allow myself very little leeway on entrances, but a lot in exits, usually making less than I would have if I had followed my systems' exits. The systems are not purchased, but are home grown, rather like Dr. Frankenstein's monster.

  6. ...I am convinced that one's selection of a trading vehicle is highly fetishistic, akin to being aroused by high heels and garter belts. I trade NQ exclusively because I get off on it. It's soooooo hot!

Hypo! All my Dr. Frankenstein tries were horrifying. I didn't intend any malice toward you or your posts, it seemed like others were ridiculous, but in reality it doesn't matter what they write anyway. I don't make any claim to being a highly experienced trader, just working hard.

  8. ...I intend no offense to the posters here I don't know, but I do know Sulong, Traderkay, and the Lobster, having tangled with them to my infinite regret. They know whereof they speak. Traderkay in particular masquerades as a snot, but is a great pricker of over-inflated egos.

If we keep you going with the hits (you gotta help!) your thread will attract some of the more interesting characters here. Those of us who have hijacked your thread thus far are sweethearts compared to the usual school of sharks, barracudas, piranhas, moray eels and assorted ankle biters who usually converge on a journal thread. Grob109 is off in a snit, and HarryTrader is playing it coy, forcing me to beg him to come back (see chit-chat). Good luck on the morrow. I expect to lose money for my sin of making profits this morning.

  9. I know this is like throwing more busted bicycles and washing machines on the front yard of this thread, but I'm pretty sure that IGNORANT lives two trailers down from me. I can't figure out how he got so much money to trade with.

Guess I gotta quit throwing all my money away on Red Man and Two Buck Chuck and start saving! :D

  10. ...this is awe-sum! Do you realize that we probably have the clout and the constituency to petition Baron for a forum of our own dedicated to the lofty and sublime principles of White Trash Trading? We are worldwide, thanks to England's convict deportation acts, and we be BIG. I myself would be pleased to contribute to such a forum one of my favorite systems, which I fondly call Sadistical Statistical Trading. It's basic principle, which you will no doubt recognize, is "Whack! Whack! Whack! Don't talk back!" It's like enrolees in engineering school. I am convinced that many aspiring traders are closet trash, only one missed mortgage payment away from moving back to the trailer park.
