Geez, I hope Geithner isn't forced out over this one. He's been one of our biggest supporters against the transaction tax. This is not good, especially with an election coming up later this year. Obama may send him packing to protect Democrats running in Nov. This is just what we didn't need to hear. This will only give a bigger voice to Defazio, who's been screaming for Geithner's resignation for quite some time. Hopefully, Obama doesn't force Geithner out over this.

Barney Frank say's he supports congressional hearings over this. This is not looking good for Geithner staying on as Treasury Secretary.

  4. It sounds like some are calling to get rid of Summers as well:

I'm not too worried about Summers getting canned, but all of these developments make me wonder if there's something brewing to try and get rid of anyone in the administration that is against the transaction tax. This is just the conspiracy theory part me of thinking.
The nightmare scenario I see is Geithner being forced out, and replaced by some liberal, radical economist that is not tied to wall street, who is a major advocate of the transaction tax.

Who could be potential geithner's replacement?

Or what is the worst possible replacement can they give us?

With Obama, who the hell knows. This is all just speculation right now. This hasn't garnered any major news headlines, YET! Hopefully, it won't gather any steam, but with Democrats like Barney Frank supporting congressional hearings on the Fed./Aig withholding info. story, I'm worried that it's only a matter of time before Geithner is gone.

  9. I have to say that I'm worried as hell about this tax. I day trade equities and if this thing gets passed, my system becomes a money looser over night.....

So, what's the consensus? Do you guys seriously think this tax has a chance in hell of passing?

It just seems like there are so many HUGE negatives that folks with half a brain will weigh in on the subject before it's too late.

Or am I simply in dream land?
