I know we should be taking a break, but I came across this article about a possible sympathetic voice(s) in the Congress who may be able to help us: http://ndc.crowley.house.gov/ Most of these Dems are moderates and in positions to make or break legislation that would affect us, notably since many of them have real world experience unlike most every other member in the House. This BusinessWeek article mentions where they stand on Wall Street matters, so maybe we should target the membership and try to get their support. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_02/b4162024080832.htm Just a thought.
The "Guardian" really has nothing to say lately. Watch the conclusion of this article( from 6 days ago ): http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/dec/27/uk-frozen-in-midst-recession Happy new year.
Good job all, let's hope this poverty-inducing, grossly immoral monstrosity of a tax gets consigned to the dustbin of history where it belongs.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/charlie-cooper/stimulus-schmimulus----we_b_408445.html in google alerts from yesterday. This pub continues to push for the tax. http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/features/financial-regulation-a-looming-sledgehammer_433349.html. Also in google alerts Was on a family vacation. A family friend works at the joint committe on taxation in Congress. He said his friend there is on the FTT and they are saying it's a bad idea. That too much biz would go abroad. Happy New Year to all. From iPhone. Back Monday.
French clown Sarkozy said on national TV for his new year's speech that the G20 is thinking about taxing the financial speculation to finance the "poor countries". Hmm... I thought the whole Transaction Tax was about paying for wallstreet bailout? it seems the G20 members have different views on how to use the money that would be raised with such a tax... this is confusing. I don't really see how this could be implemented worlwide if they don't even agree on that point. I hope this will be to our advantage.
The changing story of what "they" want to use the tax money for just shows the insincerity of the pro-tax crowd.
