you have every right to your own opinion, and you are way more of an expert on what's happening in your own country than me so I won't comment, but please also don't pretend like you now what's going on in other countries because it's obvious you don't. i am from holland myself, so on my own country I can comment. Nothing has been done to us by immigrants or religious extremism. what has happened though, is the extreme right scare-mongering intellectually not so developed parts of the population with populist talk and lies. that's fine, if they would have something constructive to offer, a viable political alternative. they don't, they never take responsibility for anything, and they only oppose. i'm not just talking immigrant issues here, i'm also talking basic (traditionally right wing i might add) economic and fiscal reforms our country and the entire EU desperately needs to become economically viable again. they oppose everything. that is what is polluting our country, not anything "religious extremism" related. have you ever been in my country at all, or are you just copying what you've read? regardless, i've said this over and over, whether you're from the left, the right or the centre, and whether you're a socialist of far right wing, it shouldn't matter. whatever the ideology, the proposed (and now almost dead) euro ftt is completely absurd. anybody who understands what it entails (not many politicians unfortunately) understands there's nothing in it for anybody, except maybe anarchists. please don't make this topic into some sort of a political debate, and let's stay on ftt-track.
i completely agree. but extremists are coming at us from different directions, not just the one that's being refered to.
I was kindly permitted 227 previous posts here with no return personal attack or hasty rebuke. Yes, I have lived in The Netherlands with Dutch relatives who constantly despair in similar terms to Shedaâs. They are waiting to join their relatives here. I work with high level 457 visa British researchers who at one crucial stage volunteered their time 24/7 on the anti-FTT campaign. My considered thoughts (MEANT AS A DIRECT REPLY TO SHEDA) were merely a follow-on expression of understanding his/her position. My British colleagues want to stay here for job security and various (pc unmentionable?) reasons. From the beginning of this long-running ftt saga, it would have been close-minded to separate dictatorial ftt obsessives from political extremism conveniently fuelled by cleverly courted and rapidly increasing immigrant voter blocs who care nothing for hated financial sector jobs and who are deliberately brainwashed into going along with polices they are ill-equipped to comprehend. Well-informed, highly qualified political lobbyists in many and varied places can take quiet satisfaction from their extensive and successful work advising against FTT. They knew the culprits and they knew how to influence and argue against sectional interests. Sometimes it's wise to read between the well-intended lines. That's all. Thank you.
That article makes it sound like the Eurozone FTT is a done deal. I'm still of the opinion that the proposal is most likely dead (at the very least in it's current form) and may not see the light of day. Also I thought that the ftt couldn't be applied to forex as it violates the free flow of capital rules? -Guru

"Whether the (one solo, the note) would be a good solution, yes you can look at times when our neighbors in France. Have considerable problems and achieve only a very limited effect, "said Schaeuble. "I am therefore still a devotee of global, but at least a European financial transaction tax. You just can not replace reality only by commitment.
