The willingness of this organization to ignore facts & force there agenda forward despite anything, there absolute disdain & disrespect for anything other than there own intentions, actually makes my stomach turn.

“The less people know about how sausages and laws are made, the better they'll sleep at night”

These EC-11 countries have socialists in their coalitions who want to push FTT through regardless of the facts and costs involved.

  3. Their disdain is for democracy. They hate it. The European Commisssion is the most anti-democratic organization since the old Soviet Union. Their agenda is to force the EU countries to continue to surrender more and more power until all of Europe is subjugated to the EU/EC politburo.

  4. I've watched the video three times now and I'm shocked at the contemptuous disregard of any real democratic process. There is merely a facade of democracy for appearances sake.

Under enhanced cooperation you only get to vote before you know what you're voting for. It is a complete joke. Monty Python couldn't have come up with this.

Poland's vote is utterly crucial. On first viewing I was encouraged by what the Polish FM had to say ( 01.24.12 timestamp on the video) but after listening again I thought he sounded just as agreeable to the other side.

There was a report several weeks ago that Poland were offering to join the EC FTT group in return for something extra in the European budget or something along those lines. They didn't get anything and withdrew from the discussion. I don't remember the details or where I read it now. Hopefully there wasn't any truth to it because it doesn't bode well if true.

I do hope that Poland will behave honourably but I also think that the Polish FM knows full well how valuable his vote is to both sides. It's hard not be (even more) cynical now.

    The EU is a cesspit.

  5. Wow that doesn't sound good at all. So your under the impression that maybe they'll have to vote without seeing the proposal in it's entirety? If so thats just plain nuts.

Come on Poland do the right thing and don't sell everyone out.

  6. Jan Vincent-Rostowski (Polish Finance Minister) - Wikipedia entry:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Vincent-Rostowski

Born and educated (at a very expensive school) in Britain, he has been a member of the UK Conservative Party.

On the face of it he would seem to be a natural ally of the UK government but which side will realpolitik put him on?

  7. Ridiculously they are not obliged to put up a detailed proposal before QMV takes place. And on top of that,if I understand it correctly, there is no further voting afterwards.

  8. Unreal. No wonder the EU is going down in flames. Is the vote still scheduled for December sometime? You gotta believe (hope) the UK and Sweden are hard at work behind the scenes putting a stop to this madness.

  9. EC-11-FTT depends on whether or not Poland stands its ground or gives in to pressure from Germany/France: “There must be a pragmatic way of letting us see the directive to make sure there are no spillover effects,” Polish Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski said.

Also, spoke to a trader friend of mine in Sweden who has a good friend in the Netherlands. Their bet is that the Netherlands will not end up in the FTT because their offer to participate depends on demands that don't fit the current model of the proposed FTT and the other 11 countries won't make changes just to accomodate the Netherlands.
