1/3 Of All U.S. Wages Are Government Hand Outs

Discussion in 'Politics' started by pspr, Mar 8, 2011.

  1. Really? How many corporations are there in the United States? Of those, how many were bailed out? Of those, how many have not paid back their LOANS with interest?

You sound very bitter and I suspect your ignorance has something to do with it.

  2. Why would anyone believe it without documentation which I asked for and am still waiting for?

They don't have any source for their claim that 35% of corporate profits are government hand outs or subsidies. It is just a made up number that has no basis in fact or reality.

  4. Exactly. Libturds don't like reality so they play make believe. And despite this being a trading website, I doubt any of them has ever read a 10-K.

  5. How many corporations live off made up projects by the Pentagon? How many live off make work highway projects? How many live off trumped up wars? Bailouts to the con men in the banks are just the tip of the iceberg. Government money is handed out across the board. You and your ilk don't seem to mind that. Shut off the government tap for them all and watch the entire country go down. Taxpayer dollars have propped up the economy for decades.

  6. Lost in this debate is also the different between a publicly traded corporation and a private corporation. When the Fed runs its money pump asset reflation scheme, the large shareholders/directors of these publicly traded corps receive even further indirect bailouts as "whomever" relentlessly pushes the market higher gives them a bid to sell into. Everybody knows the ridiculously disproportionate number of insider sales to buys over the past two years.

I re-iterate my earlier comment in this thread...both sides of this coin are dragging down this country and both are actively supported by the government. There is really no rationalizing one side having any moral highground to the other.

I'm defining a "hand-out" for this thread as a government check or payment received that doesn't require further work, service or compensation to be received. Contracts and government employee salaries are not hand-outs. They require further work, goods or services in order to receive payment.

    Examples of Hand-Outs:
SS; Medicare; Gov. Pension payments; Food Stamps; Mortgage Financial Help; Section 8 Housing; Cash For Clunkers; Government Loans, Grants And Bail-Outs that are NOT repaid with interest.

    Examples That Are NOT Hand-Outs:
Government Employee Salaries; Contracts For Goods or Services;Government Arranged Purchases Of Goods By Foreign Powers; Government Loans, Grants And Bail-Outs that ARE repaid with interest.

  8. Captain Oblivious strikes again! All you need is a cape, tights and a rubber room. :p

"Government money is handed out"? Oh please... do you have any idea what it takes to build tanks, fighters or highways? Obviously not. And it's not "government money." It's taxpayers' money. The government is a parasite and only has what it confiscates.

When General Dynamics makes M1 tanks, they're EARNING money, not getting a handout. When Lockheed Martin makes F-35s, they're EARNING money, not getting a handout. When Kiewit improves I-25 and I-225, they're EARNING money, not getting a handout. Not to mention providing jobs and strengthening the nation. Get a clue oblivious one.

  9. I know what it takes to build useless weaponry that isn't needed, doesn't work right, or at all, and always has cost overruns. I know what is cots to build bridges to nowhere. Do these industries then create jobs? Sure they do. So would high speed rail, but your gang doesn't seem to like that idea. Jobs created for useless defense projects are just fine with you, but high speed rail, no can do. Seems you only want to grease the palms of your favorites. Jobs created are jobs created, regardless of the industry.
Taxpayer becomes government money the second it's collected from us, and it's then distributed to those that play the political game. We a re not a stronger nation as a result of this money being wasted, we are weaker.
There would be plenty of money to help those in need if it wasn't being redistributed to the wealthy. You are another mindless fool with Beck in one ear, Limbaugh in the other, and the vision of Palin.

  10. SSN is a handout? Medicare? Sorry dude, we all pay for these things with tax deductions. Giving me my money after 45 f'n years isn't a handout. It's MY FUCKIN MONEY!! Mortgage assistance wouldn't be needed if the banks weren't ripping us off. Bailouts, repaid or otherwise, is still a gift paid for by taxpayers. Where's my bailout?
Taxpayer money used for useless weaponry is certainly a handout to the defense industry, whether it creates jobs or not. We're not going broke because of Section 8 housing or welfare checks. We're broke because the banks stole all the money, crashed the economy, and had the taxpayer, via the bought and paid for political scum in D.C., re-finance them for more fun and games at the Wall Street casino, where all profits will be private, and all losses will be socialized.
