You just have to ask what it takes to get reduced commissions or zero commissions if you sign up. The branch manager does have some discretion.
You kids have no idea how good you have it with these 65 cent commissions and no base rate these days.
No branch manager for us living abroad. Are you saying that Schwab is willing to negotiate fees? If so, I will skip Tradier/firstrade all together and stick with them. Something IB has never accepted to do unfortunately...
What are you talking about? Thomas Peterffy is worth $15.3bn these days.... I have a clear idea who is having it the best.
Sorry. Didn't realize you are outside the US. In the US, many brokerages will negotiate commissions depending on how desirable you are as a client to them.
@Amun Ra was right. Not that long ago, they charged me $9.95 a contract and before deregulation, non discount brokers charged several hundred dollars a contract.
Whew. Glad to see those days are gone. Much as I'd have loved to catch the action on the trading floors in days of yore, the modern flexibility, availability, ease, and low cost of trading today are astounding and I greatly appreciate them. (I would be ecstatic to have my options fees be in the thousands of dollars; it would mean that I was making millions. I'd probably send my broker expensive wine and chocolates for the privilege.)
