jasinhbca's quest for discipline, knowledge & profits

  1. Yes, I believe I've improved. It's taken me much, much longer than I expected to really understand my set ups. By that I mean they're written clearly enough now that i believe some one else could trade them. Trade management is also much improved. I believe I have a very solid foundation of trading knowledge going forward.

There have been times when I blamed missing trades on discipline when in retrospect it may have been more due to unclear rules. More and more though any mistakes now generally are discipline related. So,yes, you are correct it's self-discipline at this point that is holding me back.

I have a pretty good idea of what I do wrong so now I focus on doing what I should be doing and recognizing the uncomfortable feelings I may have.

  3. minus 1 pt. Choppy action. I traded the plan pretty well. missed 1 entry because didn't reverse quick enough. overall good discipline.

  4. Lot's of mid close 1 minute bars threw me off again. I ended up passing on a couple trades I should have taken. Call it a lesson in PA.

Several decent disciplined trades that went in my favor a couple points then reversed for around 1 pt loss. My last two trades I should not have taken. So a mix of confusion, good calm discipline and then poor discipline. I think I was fine until I thought 'shit, why am I not making money in this market'.

Mostly it felt like good discipline but I need to do better. Try again tomorrow.

    J,

You think slowing down (increasing) your TTF to say 5 min - might help "calm" things down a bit further??

    And help maintain it

One minute crack can be addictive - and influential to one's discipline - in a bad way

  6. IDK, about switching TTF to 5 minute but I do know I need to pay more attention to the 5 minute than I am. It's there on my right (i have 2 monitors) with channels drawn and S/R levels marked. But too often at EOD I look back at the 5 and see that a bar by bar analysis shows nice clarity that I'm not picking up on real time. Not hind sight , just not focusing enough real time on the info the 5 provides.

Sometimes i'll flip my 1 to a 2 minute and that can help.

You mentioned the crack charts before and that helped me realize that it can suck one in to emotion trading. I've gotten better and at being patient through the 1 minute gyrations.

So your advice is spot on but I think I can accomplish it by better focus on the 5.

  7. First few trades I wasn't thrilled about taking. Context a bit messy. But I miss too many trades so I'm just taking them. Basically the structure was correct to be taking them. Too often I find reasons to not take trades.

Seems I lost some focus and missed a good trade. Overall, pretty good discipline and emotion free, follow the plan trading.

  9. Messy context but taking trades. That's fine IF structure is correct and set up is there but don't get lazy and impatient and take half assed trades.

Good discipline followed plan not congruent with lost focus missed trade. Expect more from yourself. Raise the bar and REALLY have discipline.

    Carnac?
