what has this country become - the land of the weak and the home of the retarded...

this is the fatal weakness of democracy... the bottom of the barrel has 1 vote as valuable as the 1 vote from the cream of the crop... so politicians think of all the ways to scrape the bottom.

my kids will be fine... but in general this is such a terrible discrimination against the smartest and hardest working group of the society.

I’m probably richer than you. That makes my kids smarter and harder working than yours.

Dozu, I just had an interesting thought...

You and I both know that the USA has become the land of the stupid. People from all over have generally become super-dumb.

But have you noticed that on forums like this, with a few exceptions, people seem to be able to write well? I find it very curious.

If ET were a basic cross-sampling of the general "vox populi", it seems we have some well-educated mugs in the US, because writing well is an indication and expression of intelligence. I think?

there is enough social mobility in the US... I came to this country 25 years ago with 2 suitcases and $100 in my pocket.

and don't think for a minute this is about giving equal access to education whatever to the poor... like I said this is all about scraping the bottom of the barrel for the votes.

interesting thought... but I'd doubt that ET is a cross-sampling.

even though we tend to use the terms 'dumb money'... to be honest people who come into the markets are generally quite smart in their daily lives... they tend to be in the upper income brackets to have the residual to buy some shares.

  7. Be careful. I see a lot of writing with good form but very little in the way of critical intelligence

Well hell, I'm guilty of that! It's just blabbing! Sometimes there is occasion for it.

Critical intelligence? I assume you mean critical thinking skills. Mmph. I do not think we can discount well-formulated writing so easily. There are good brains there!

I am not so sure about that. You have no idea. :p

Indeed. That is why I mentioned "forums like this". Open discussions without censorship. The old ways. :)
