I have just found a new love and switching over from Gatorades. My criteria are: -lots of electrolytes, pretty much everything in it -good taste -no sugar or very small amount -reasonably priced As I said I used to drink Zero calories Gatorade and if I sweat a lot I ate a banana or even potatoes. The taste of Gatorades is a required one but I got used to it. Now I discovered[ Bodyarmor Lyte and I am in love. It fulfills all my criteria. Advantages over Gatorade: -taste is mango peach, excellent (there are 9 flavours) -no extra sugar added, it is sweetened with Stevia. (some people may not like it) -it has enough potassium in it (25% more than in 1 banana) so no extra fruit is needed -the bottle is only 12 oz, cost is only $1.1 -it has way more vitamins and electrolytes -it has coconut water in it If someone need more liquid it is sweet enough that you can dilute it with ice or water and the taste will still be enjoyable. Try it or if you have another fav share it here.. https://www.drinkbodyarmor.com/lyte-sports-drink/
I don't drink any kind of sports drink. I drink water during the gym session and eat lunch afterward. Lunch consists of meat and/or fish, vegetables, rice.
What kind of activity do you engage in that has such an effect on you? For how long, how hard, and how often? And what about just eating more of the foods that naturally contain those electrolytes? I ask because I never felt I needed such drinks even when I was spending an inordinate amount of time in the gym.
Life. I am just generally quite sweaty, including sleep. But for example I just came back from 1 hour of active tennis in sunny 76F, so obviously we were sweating. My theory is that my range of low to high electrlytes and salts is much more narrow than the average person's so I get low on them or overdosed much easier. (electrolyte balance is too sensitive) I will read up on it. For starters: https://medlineplus.gov/fluidandelectrolytebalance.html I am not sure what foods have electrolytes, but since I need water/liquid replacement anyway, why not get those with the drink I drink? Edit: I found this interesting, further research is needed, but I could have this causing the imbalance: https://medlineplus.gov/genetics/condition/autosomal-dominant-hypocalcemia/
Yeah Nuun. Is it tasty? Cost is 50 cents per 16oz drink, Potassium is only 200mg, so half a banana. I think I just have chronic Mg deficit, so I am going to supplement with it everyday.
