The greatest thing about the dems losing in Mass is there should not have been an election in the first place. Prior to 2004 if a Senate seat in Mass became vacant the Governor would name a replacement to the seat. Then John Kerry ran for President and the dems were worried that if John Kerry won the then governor, Mitt Romney, would appoint a Republican. To avoid the unpleasant thought of Romney appointing a Republican in the case of Kerry winning the Presidency, they changed to law to allow for a special election. As we all know, Kerry lost and it was mute point. However, they never changed the law back. Nicely done.
