Sending queries for Yahoo Finance historical OHLC data returns "connection refused", anyone else seeing this and does anyone know if the service is done for or what's going on?

i was always afraid Jan 1st of every year(and few days after that). cause every year they(various companies) tend to make some changes that make our lives(freeloaders) a bit harder. yahoo became a junk lately. email was terrible, yahoo finance news was polluted with non existing news(specially RSS feed) . i won't be surprised, that they close access to the data. or it could be just a coincidence . or maybe because markets are closed. i would wait for a couple days, before start worrying about it.

They actually surprised me positively a while ago. I submitted the historical data errors and they replied quickly and actually fixed the errors. Color me impressed.

But this error is new and the the return means the service has stopped. It was always available before when the markets were closed. I'll see what happens but it looks like RIP.

Are you using the "ichart.finance.yahoo.com/table.csv?..." type of query? That works for me too, apparently the old Wealth-Lab and AmiQuote are using a different method of access and therefore aren't functioning.
Then again, the "ichart" query seems to produce plenty of errors as I'm discovering with perl at the moment. The same query, at times the "adjusted" field returns unadjusted results which screws up the data and renders it unusable. There's no clear way to verify if the data is solid.

    "No connection with the server"
    Using the ichart interface.
Maybe they are hard at work improving this free interface for the thousands of
People that download a thousand historical symbols daily.
    Maybe.

yes, i agree on that. they responding very quickly(specially if you are paying for the data subscription) and usually fix things fast. however-when i pointed out that there is a lot of non existing news on their RSS feed-they didn't do anything.
i'm talking about something like this

    http://feeds.finance.yahoo.com/rss/2.0/headline?s=live&region=US&lang=en-US

    note that first\top "news" is

--Nasdaq stocks posting largest percentage increases
    Tuesday, December 31, 2013 1:40 PM----

which have nothing to do with this ticker LIVE

no such 'news'. and it's all over yahoo

It's only "chart1.finance.vip.ac4.yahoo.com" that stopped serving. A lot of older software depended on it.
