I have been using services like Turbotax, at times, Taxact, i just immensely loath using their services as they dont provide transparency on how they came up with the figures, only after filing, will show the 1040 filed. I am looking for more bare-bone service that lets you fill -in necessary 1040 information onto form directly and then provide numbers. I can do everything on 1040 using pen and paper the old way but that is the other extreme, being too slow and manual.
A good CPA will earn you more than they charge you but you might find this useful https://www.forbes.com/advisor/income-tax-calculator/
Thanks for all inputs, I also found this to be pretty convenient: https://finred.usalearning.gov/ToolsAndAddRes/Calculators/Tax/calculator/1040-Tax However, even nicer would be one or more of those would have ability to save results, update and recalculate with accounts creation as well. thx,
This one says it's for 2023. The one I posted before has the same look and feel but claims it's for 2024. If you had health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace (https://www.healthcare.gov/) or your state's marketplace, the calculators don't seem to support reconciling the premium tax credit. For that, you can use a combination of information from your Health Insurance Marketplace account and https://www.taxformcalculator.com/calculator/8962.html to find the amount you underpaid or overpaid.
