On Facebook, Simon wrote that she sat next to a Texas congressman who identified Jackson Lee as being in Simon's seat and said to her that this was the third time he personally had watched the Houston congresswoman bump a passenger, adding, "Jackson Lee gives us all a bad name; it’s shameful." (More at above url) As a side-note when flying to/from D.C. I have regularly been kicked out of my first class seat from airlines and had my seat given to politicians and lobbyists. I can assure you that I have more elite program status and miles then any of the characters they gave my confirmed seat to. This pandering to politicians and their cronies by the airlines at the expense of the traveling public is an ongoing problem in the airline industry. United's claim that Simon cancelled her ticket is absurd and is an example of the usual nonsense put forward by airlines when this nonsense occurs. It is time to put a stop to this absurd treatment of customers by airlines as they pander to politicians.

Yes, which the customer states this is not true. This is the usual method that airlines use to screw you over. They claim you cancelled your reservation when they want to give your seat to someone else. This is the problem that needs to be fixed. Airlines need to stop screwing their customers to give away their seats to politicians while giving the customer a fabricated excuse. If you regularly traveled to/from DC for a period of time you would be wise to this game by the airlines.
