Wapo: With omicron, many vaccinated Americans will at some point test positive. Here’s what to do.

Sterling N. Ransone, a family physician in Deltaville, Va., and president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, recommends getting a thermometer and a pulse oximeter, the fingertip device that measures oxygen in your blood. These can help you send valuable information to your doctor if your symptoms worsen. “If they can get me those kinds of numbers, I can give them much better advice on what we can do,” Ransone said.

Acetaminophen can help relieve aches and pains, and cold medications with expectorant can loosen up chest congestion. But it’s important to note that these will alleviate symptoms only temporarily — they will not get rid of the virus faster. Consult your doctor before taking them, follow the dosage recommendations on the label, and make sure they don’t interfere with any other medications you might be taking.

Electrolyte fluids such as Gatorade and Pedialyte can ease symptoms and prevent you from becoming dehydrated. It is good to have a few of these in your fridge.

Really. This fucking Omicron thing is as mild as a cold, and she wants us to constantly measure our SATS? This COVID paranoia is out of control now.

The more who can monitor themselves at home with accuracy the better as it saves swamping medical systems and worry.

Everyone should have an oxymeter and understand how to use it in 2021. It's very useful and cheap particularly with kids and elderly.

Main issue is many elderly have low readings on some fingers due to poor blood supply and very dark skin can read inaccurately so practice with it first finding a good reading is important. Some black people need to rotate the sensor.

NAC powder can also be useful to clear congestion but many are allergic to it so good to test for anafilaxia with a little bit.

Did they have abnormally low SATS levels before Covid, 2 years ago? Then maybe it was not because of COVID. Maybe they already had low SATS levels? FFS. This paranoid insanity is driving me insane.

This is why you want to test first. But if you are below 80..

Really, it should be next to the thermometer. It's very basic kit every home should have and if people get to know them due to this covid stuff it will save some lives in the years ahead.

Dunno, if many people know the basics of cars and many do, at least as many should know how their bodies work and don't work. Just a tool.

It is overbearing. A very basic home kit? How much does a typical pulse oximeter cost, and will insurance cover the cost of it?

It is too much man. Next, they will say you should be testing for diabetes every day, because maybe low SATS if infected with COVID means your thermometer is giving false reading because your glucose levels are awry after eating that bowl of Frosted Flakes.

Or maybe you just have the common cold. Don't you see what they are doing? At-home SATS tests. Are you kidding me? This is beyond the pale.

Well they give them away free in a kit to anyone with symptoms in Colombia so..

I'm just looking forward to a toilet that does all that lab work. I have an insanely complicated Japanese toilet but it's missing a medical module :)

Don't be daft, you have a bidet. The Japs like that sort of thing. Unless it's the seashell version...

I have five, that five choices of flush, a deodorant spray button, it has a warm air ass dryer and my favourite feature, a button for making the sound of a flush while not actually flushing.

But that's in the the fallout shelter I inherited in California, saves roomfulls of toilet paper. Eventually I will get the place running as a very cool air B&B. I have a bum gun at home.
