Will the NYSE and NASDAQ ever switch to 24 hour trading ? With so many trading stragies based on the open (opening range etc) and the close does anybody think that the NYSE and NASDAQ will ever go to 24 hour trading like forex What will happen to all the open and close strategy traders ? Does anybody think this would be a good thing ? I think it would be good for swing traders as they no longer have to worry about massive gap openings
Could you imagine hearing that screeching, nails on a black board voice @ 3am? I can't even tolerate it at 3pm.
You would think in 2010 that the exchanges would be open at least 8-10 hours a day, this isn't 1964 or 1985, it's 2010, a 6.5 hour trading day is pretty pathetic during a time when the exchanges are doing well over a billion shares and most exchanges are doing everything electronic now, no need for brokers. Also keep in mind how closely over sea markets are watched compared to just 5 or 10 years ago. As for trading after hours or pre market it's totally worthless, at this point there is no need to even take chances with wide spreads and absolutely no volume, 6.5 hour trading days should have been long gone decades ago.
