Crazy how in the past few years, i saw the first three people. Thought, to myself, there's a catch & price for looking that great. And now they're all dead.
Plant based diets are good for some but others it can be "very dangerous" especially when glycemic index levels are not being monitored. For example, consistently eating too much grains and not enough vegetables. In college, we had a guy on the crew team (rowing)...extremely fit and low fat density...great muscularity in the upper body. Yet, eating a plant based diet. Cardiac-arrest after one practice. Luckily for him...the hospital was a few blocks away. Moral of the story, good nutrition can kill too if not careful and you have an underlying medical condition that's vulnerable to the good nutrition. wrbtrader
I can picture what happened at the hospital. Nurse: Doctor, what is the diagnosis? Doctor: This is so sad. It's another case of LOL -- Lettuce Over Limit. If only he had eaten more double cheeseburgers ... Or, maybe his underlying medical condition caused the issue.
It was later determined that the "cause" was Myocarditis. I too had Myocarditis but it never did cause me to go into cardiac-arrest except for "Nick"...the one that was hospitalized. Team doctor put me on rest (no rowing) for one month and the team nutritionist changed my self-diet into more meat protein...essentially increasing my protein intake. A month later, no Myocarditis but I did develop a heart murmur. I would then develop Myocarditis a 2nd time many months later but a change of diet again resolved the problem. I remember eating more High Protein French Toast with lots of maple syrup the way my grandparents would make them for me when I visited them in France... Till this day, into my 50s...I still eat that High Protein French toast about 1 - 2 hours before an intense rowing workout. wrbtrader
I saw this video some days ago. Although he mentions it, I think he understates the role that PEDs played in those "young muscular people" dying. Physique competitors? Think PEDs and diuretics, otherwise they won't place in today's over-the-top world. Of course an intelligent diet is important for longevity, but I doubt that a carnivore diet alone would likely kill a "young muscular person." I think the damage from that kind of misguided diet takes a bit longer to kill you.
