I understand many people have accounts and the total number of users is vast, much larger than any polls can cover. But my personal subjective view is that most active users are either in the business of self-promotion, have nothing better to do than posting bullshits, or small guys. At least, most of my friends that actively post are idiots. For scouting a subject where headcount counts such as an election, that's understandable, but for things like investing, where the dudes that matter never post shits on SNS, I don't understand why it works. You can have tons of guys twitting about AAPL but their collective buying doesn't add to a % of daily volume. Hence, I don't get how such so-called SNS sentiment scalping can help except on the low-liquidity names.
