Why is the US COVID situation so dire?

This tries to be a "non-political" question.
Other countries seem to have a better handle. Florida and Texas are a mess, Southern CA is no better. Why? How did Spain and Italy who were in dire situations managed to come out with a better curve than the US? Do not tell me it is all Trump's fault because it is bull. The bureaucracies in the CDC and other assorted agencies are mind-boggling and rather inept. Still, there is a huge contrast with the rest of the world.

 

It is Trump's fault, but you don't want to hear that. So you will keep looking for other scapegoats.

We could have a non-political discussion about leadership, the lack of it, and the consequences, but you don't want to hear about it.

Even if Trump were to wear a mask, don't think all Americans will follow. Why blame Trump when those choose not to wear mask just don't bother or care for others' health. Just use commonsense. It's not politic. It's people.

I want specifics! You just throw out a statement without backing it up with facts. He is on the top, most errors were done by bureaucrats he inherited. Career, liberal apparatchiks as useful as a tit on a plank. Cuomo will be in the history books sending COVID patients into nursing homes while the empty Navy hospital boat was there to be used. What did Trump do that was so bad? Not wearing masks, please! You can do better than that...or can't you?
