Interesting article. However I can see where the Hungarian government is coming from in this particular instance. Central European University (CEU) is based in Budapest but incorporated in New York state. The "university" is nothing more than a propaganda machine for Soros.
And you think that's the principal and motivating reason behind Orban's ire? From the article: ...This episode is the latest in Orban’s long campaign against opposition. Over the last seven years, he has taken on the constitution, press freedom, the rule of law, foreign scholars, the European Union and international conglomerates. As next spring’s parliamentary elections draw closer and Orban seeks a nemesis to motivate his base, his attacks are intensifying... Isn't it interesting how quick fhl is to come to the aid of an authoritarian?
Actually it is a lot more. Nevertheless a propaganda machine for Soros is certainly one of the best and most important roles that any institution interested in promoting freedom and self determination could play. Thank you George Soros for dedicating your time and fortune to fighting totalitarian governments everywhere. You can easily understand now why Soros has been the target of cyber space disinformation campaigns for years, long before the Russians got involved in hacking U.S. elections, as a matter of fact. The governments behind these efforts have extensive resources to employ.
We are just going to fundamentally disagree on George Soros. As the activities of his organization have seen more daylight, it has become obvious that he is focused on brewing discord and divisiveness -- not promoting unity and freedom. His concept of "freedom" is solely built around thinking what he tells you.
That's flat out bullshit. His Open Society efforts have been about the establishment of a free press so that truth would not be suppressed, whatever truth that might be. His detractors want to limit public awareness and exchange. And you are speaking out against him? Get a clue.
Yeah, right... his OSF has been about organizing the BLM movement to attack cops, block roads, and harass decent people. All while promoting nonsense that diverges from the truth - "Hands up. Don't shoot".
Get a cane, your hate is blinding. Which of these initiatives do you find offensive? https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/about/history
