You should address this question to your broker.

i’m just asking what the reasons are for this

I understand but we have no way to know,
especially without you divulging the symbol.
It could be any number of things.

the symbol is bxvx. it’s closed in after hours trading.

Maybe because there's no such symbol.

Anyway, trading could have been halted
in the after hours, again, for various
    reasons.

The only way you are going to know for
certain is if you contact your broker.

I know how frustrating it is when you
cannot get out of a trade, it happened
    to me just yesterday.

Must be your broker. According to Yahoo it traded in the afterhour market.

All (non-OTC) stocks trade in the AH. No exemptions, only when halted!

because it will not be profitable for the broker.
